Join Us At A Virtual Brunch Fundraiser Raising Breast Cancer Awareness For Black Women
Hello family!
I’m excited to share with you that on June 28th, 2020 I will be joining the African Women’s Cancer Awareness Association (AWCAA) as a speaker for their Ladies First Brunch Event! Ladies First is an annual brunch-fundraiser created to build awareness and support for women of color who have been directly or indirectly affected by breast cancer. It is a cause very dear to my heart as black women’s health is something I have been passionate about for years.
Due to COVID-19, AWCAA has turned this Ladies First brunch event into an engaging live-stream telethon featuring doctor-led power talks, fashion + fitness, and much more! Your’s truly will be demonstrating a cooking demo of delicious cancer fighting African-inspired dishes. Together, we’re striving to raise $10,000 for the African Women’s Cancer Awareness Association’s Stay Safe initiative.
“With all the recent events, it's easy to overlook the current state of cancer in our community. Right now, cancer patients are more at risk of being exposed to COVID-19 due to a number of underlying pre-existing conditions but are still required to go to their chemotherapy appointments, exposing them to outdoor conditions and even worse, hospitals. Most continue to suffer due to job loss, limited income from inability to work, and difficulty providing meals for their families.
AWCAA aims to provide a safety program that will provide living stipends; a safety care package with protective essentials such as gloves, disinfectants, face masks, as well as private transport, to any in need, as means of reducing exposure to public transportation.”
The Live event starts from 2-6pm and is free and open to the public, so share it with your friends and family! Click here to register.
